Just noodles - egg or mac noodles. Add 1/2 a loaf of Velvetta and half a stick of butter. Salt and pepper.

Funny thing is we are getting ready to eat this right now! The children add hot dogs Gag

I make a white sauce and add real cheese when we're trying to eat healthy/better. Then bake until bubbly. But I have to admit I still keep boxed on hand and we probably eat it once a month. Not the powdered kind but the velveeta type (no-name brand). It's so much faster ('cause I don't have to plan ahead) and honestly my dc like it better.

I cook the noodles and then I melt 1/3 the velvetta loaf in the microwave with a little milk to make it creamier and to stretch it...then mix.

No, no - you gotta use THIS one - it's THE BEST mac-n-cheese EVER!!
My MIL makes it for all family gatherings :D

2.5 cups elbow macaroni
4 eggs, beaten
3 cups sweet milk
3-4 TBSP melted margarine/butter
1/2 pound cheese
1/2 tsp salt

Cook & drain macaroni. Mix milk & butter to beaten eggs and add salt. Layer macaroni, sliced cheese. Pour milk and egg mixture over these. Cover with grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

***I think my MIL uses regular milk in it - It's still wonderful!

HA! I made the Velveeta recipe (on the box) today and then put it in the crockpot for 2 hours so I wouldn't have to fuss at lunch time.... It was all dried out and bland tasting!

My poor, poor company,.. and I forgot to warn them about my cooking!! :eek

They were soooo gracious, though, and pretended to like it! :lol

I usually make a white sauce and add cheddar to it.

Favorite add in... either a jar of salsa or a can of tomatoes (chopped). YUM!!

Reg says the trick is to use EXTRA SHARP cheddar, no other kind will do..
and to use onion powder and garlic...real butter...milk, salt, pepper....shred the cheese, then melt it in the pan with all the ingreds except cooked noodles....when it is melted, pour it over drained noodles and bake for a bit, about 20 minutes 350

I had some cooked rotelle and was going to buy some velveeta to put in it, but couldn't bring myself to pay that price. I couldn't believe how expensive it was!

So I bought some box kind four for $.88. :) Someone give me about the white sause and cheddar recipe.

white sauce is just flour, milk, and butter cooked together...

1 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
*I add 1 teaspoon of chicken buillon

Heat til bubbly, stirring constantly to keep from clumping and sticking to the pan. Then add 1-2 c shredded cheese. Stir til cheese is melted.

My grandma makes hers by cooking the noodles. Put them in the pan. Add chunks of butter and cheese and then cover with milk. Bake on a low temp. for about an hour always making sure there is enough milk in it.

Katie makes some that is super easy...it uses REAL cheese (sorry, no velveeta :lol) and milk among other things, but best of all, it starts with UNCOOKED noodles, so it is super simple...mix and put in the oven along with meatloaf or whatever meat is for dinner...
here it is...the texture will be different from what you are used to with the boxed stuff...

it originated with either momys or qf digest eons ago.

Melt some butter in a 9 by 13 cassarole dish, add two cups dry macaroni, cover with two cups grated cheddar cheese (while sharper cheddar tastes more 'traditional', we have made this with everything from mozarella to pepperjack cheese), a little salt and pepper and cover that with 5 cups milk. Bake at 350 for one hour. You can also add ham, lil smokies, hot dogs, etc to make a main dish.

**simple, easy, just dont stint on the amt of milk as that is what cooks the noodles and keeps it moist.

I learned to make this from my grammy.. like someone else menioned..

put cooked macaroni in the casserole dish.. mix in cheese that's a small dice (I've cheated and used shredded).. then pour milk in until it covers the bottom of the pan.. add sliced cheese on top.. and a LID (important or it'll dry out) then just before serving remove the lid and lightly brown the top.
