Casserole

the oven to 350*. Spray 9 x 13 pan with non-stick cooking spray. Mix
together sour cream, milk, salt and pepper. Stir in all the other
ingredients except for topping. Spoon into dish (don't pour). Bake
covered for one hour and ten minutes. Remove cover. Sprinkle with
topping. Continue to bake a final 10 minutes, uncovered. Sauces: 1 can cream of mushroom soup cheddar cheese soup cream of chicken soup cream of celery soup 2 cans seasoned diced tomatoes*, undrained *If using tomatoes, omit sour cream and milk from the basic recipe Protein: 2 cups cooked cubed chicken or turkey 2 cups cooked cubed roast beef 2 cups cooked cubed ham 1 pound ground beef, browned and drained (or ground turkey or sausage) 2 cups cubed smoked sausage (Kielbasa) 12 ounces canned tuna, chicken, ham, drained and flaked 1 can of beans (drained) Vegetables: (1 1/2 cups any combination; if using frozen, thaw first) whole kernel corn baby peas cut or French style green beans spinach cauliflower broccoli Starch: (uncooked) 1 cup regular long grain rice 2 cups elbow macaroni 3 cups small pasta shells 4 cups wide egg noodles Extras: 1/4 cup chopped: onion, celery, pepper 8 ounce can drained water chestnuts 1/2 cup French fried onions 1 packet dressing mix (Italian, Ranch) 1 packet taco seasoning mix Toppings: 1/2 cup cheese (shredded cheddar) 1/4 cup parmesan 1 cup crushed crackers 1 cup stuffing mix 1 cup crushed croutons 1 cup crushed tortilla or potato chips 1 cup Chinese fried noodles 1/2 cup French fried onions We've
really enjoyed a number of variations of this one. Our favorite uses
cream of mushroom soup, ground beef, corn, rice, a packet of taco
seasoning, and crushed nacho chips and cheddar over the top. Yum! |
